Niccolò Muccio

Writer

My name is Niccolò, I am 33 years old and I don’t particularly like talking about myself. I don’t like describing myself, I never know what to write as I can run the risk of praising myself too much by excessively highlighting every little quality I have. Therefore it could be interpreted as a delusion of omnipotence.

On the other hand, I tend to mortify myself, stating that there is nothing particularly valuable about me. Now that I think about it, this is nothing more than a description of me. And probably both of these tendencies hide a great sense of narcissism: ‘Hey, look at me, how good I am, how great I am!’ ‘Hey, look, I’m not worth anything.’ In short, as long as you are looking at me I am fine with it.

Also, I like art. I like the fact that human beings can give to their own and others’ feelings a completely new and unedited shape. Pleasant, horripilating, curious, attractive, enchanting, irreverent creations and products of our minds. Products that arouse in their spectators the desire to compare themselves to them and to think about all the possible meanings and messages that they can/want to convey.I don’t like talking about myself, and that’s why I prefer to speak through artworks. The characters speak on my behalf, their feelings reflect mine, the colours, the sounds, the juxtapositions of interesting elements represent who I really am. Finally, if these elements are abstract or surreal it’s even better because they put us in a condition to think about ourselves and the world that surrounds us.They stimulate us and require a comparative effort that lets us understand ourselves and others.

Meet Niccolò

What would you be if you were: An animal, a song, a poem, a colour, a flavour?

If I were an animal I would be a dog because I am a friendly creature and I like randomly wandering around. If I were a song I would be a jazz song, more precisely a saxophone solo…You can totally see my point: it’s beautiful just saying the word ‘saxophone’.If I were a colour I would be blue, at least at present. If I were a taste I would be Nutella. There is no need to add anything else about it.

Can you describe in a few words your creative process?

For me, the creative process always starts from a very sharp feeling that I would like to be able to fully convey to someone else. The rest is all the effort I put in in order to work at my full potential.

What is your favourite subject matter to illustrate/ write about?

My favourite theme is love, at the end of the day it is all that matters.

What keeps you inspired and motivated?

What motivates me is the need to be able to let as many people as possible feel that precise emotion that grabbed my attention in the first place.

How do you think projects like Tit’n’Tales can make a difference?

Tits’n’Tales is an important project for many reasons: it has been created by two beautiful souls, two artists who fight every day to bring gender equality to our communities. They provide an authentic space where artists can express themselves freely. The topics that we can read about on Tits’n’Tales come from our daily life, which is described in all its nuances. Details that may be insignificant to some and essential to others. And they do it in a way that is accessible and understandable for everyone. It brings so much sweetness to us all.
